The United Kingdom has been battling the rapid growth of the horsemeat scandal that originated in Ireland last January. Now, the scandal has already affected beef products in Europe, in particular, France, Italy and Spain. The widely known brand Nestle was alarmed when they have found positive results on the test that they have conducted in some of the beef products sold by the company. The company that was based in Switzerland has given a statement that their test resulted to a positive trace of horse DNA. The said products include Beef Tortellini and Buitoni Beef Ravioli.
After the results came out, Nestle have pulled out all their supplies of the affected products in the market of Spain and Italy. The said news has already alarmed the consumers after an article was published online that reported the contamination of the products that is still sold in the supermarkets. The company have been doing its part and taking direct action in the said case. They have also reported this situation to the authorities. Nestle already asked for an apology to their consumers and made a promise that they would work with the matter as much as possible.
With the pending horsemeat scandal there are more consumers that have lost their confidence on their trusted meat brands. They are unaware of what threat is awaiting or health issues the said scandal might bring. It is now a burden to may food companies, including suppliers on how they will possibly gain the confidence of the customers. It is because of the scare that made the business slow. The spread of the horsemeat scandal was too fast that it has reached Europe as of this time.
